The U.S. Cannabis Spot Index increased 2.0% to $971 per pound.

In grams, the Spot price was $2.14.


The U.S. wholesale spot cannabis price rose $19 per pound this week on the back of legacy and New England market gains, while smaller markets were mostly lower. Legacy market spot wholesale price netted +$4 this week. California jumped $11 to trade in the mid-$700s per pound, while Colorado tacked on $4 and is trading at a $50 premium to California spot. Oregon spot shed $10 and Washington State slipped $1 this week. Legacy state outdoor product netted +16 this week. California outdoor rose $23, while Colorado, Oregon, and Washington State prices slipped by between $1 and $5 per wholesale pound.

New England states netted +$189 this week on the back of big gains in Massachusetts and Maine. Massachusetts wholesale spot jumped $116 this week, gaining back the $1,000 per pound handle after having fallen through the level for the first time in early March. Maine spot price gained $76 to trade in the mid $1,600s. The Maine / Massachusetts spread dropped to $548 this week from $688 last week. Rhode Island wholesale spot price gained $4 this week and has attained a level of stability not seen in surrounding markets, having traded within just a $47 range this year.

Michigan wholesale spot price has also seen a large drop in volatility over the past several months, trading in just a $31 range since January 2023. The state’s low-volatility spot price indicates Spring demand has a good base from which to make price gains. Illinois spot has become somewhat less volatile, shedding just $4 this week after a spectacular sell-off that took price down 34% from October 2022 to today. As noted previously, Illinois out-of-state sales dipped rather dramatically in February, coincident with the opening of Missouri’s adult use market. This week’s interview from inside the Show Me State suggests competition between Illinois and Missouri retailers is heating up.

April 2023 Implied Forward unchanged at $1,000 per pound.

At $1,000 per pound, the April 2023 Implied Forward represents a premium of 3.0% relative to the current U.S. Spot Price of $971 per pound.
