The California Indoor Cannabis Spot Price climbed 9.0% per pound this week. Along with a 1.8% increase for greenhouse grown flower prices and a 3.7% increase for outdoor grown flower prices, the state composite gained 5.9% per pound. As we recently discussed in the PREMIUM report, a trend has been forming where a decline in prices occurs as distributors purchase large volumes of lower-priced bulk indoor flower and then turn that product around to sell to recreational dispensaries as prepackaged flower products, driving the indoor spot price up over the next three to four weeks.
Rising prices for both indoor and greenhouse grown cannabis flower lifted the Montana Cannabis Spot Index up 5.9% per pound this week. Prices for bulk indoor grown flower rose by 8.1%, driving an 8.4% increase in the Montana Indoor Cannabis Spot Index. Prepackaged greenhouse grown flower prices increased by 17.7% as bulk greenhouse grown flower transaction prices rose by 5.9%, pushing the grow type index up 9.0%.
The New Mexico Cannabis Spot Index ended the last full week in April on a positive note gaining 4.4% per pound. Indoor and greenhouse grown flower prices gained 1.4% and 3.0%, respectively, while outdoor grown flower prices fell 1.8%. Despite the increase in the state index, the April average price assessment is down 8.2% from the March average.
May 2025 Implied Forward closes unchanged at $970 per pound.
At $970 per pound, the May Implied Forward represents a discount of 0.4% relative to the current U.S. Spot Price of $970 per pound. In May 2024, the U.S. Spot Index averaged $1,022 vs the closing Implied Forward price of $1,040.
